For the first time  – analogous to the traditional model of foreign universities – at the University of Music Saar in September 2016 will take place an International Summer School with a double Academy  under the artistic direction of Prof. Georg Grün:

I. Choir Academy 

Artistic director: Prof. Georg Grün

Development and performance of demanding choral music in a professional environment in a choir academy together with professional singers from radio choirs or the professional choral scene in each vocal group. These are the fellows during the entire duration of the Choir Academy coach through targeted vocal training, which is tailored to individual needs and to the demands of professional vocal ensemble work and its literature.

Singers is between 16 and 28, who want to practice in dealing with the specifics of a professional vocal ensembles and develop artistic approaches and concepts and refine – basic knowledge beyond 

For a grant as an active participant:

  • Application documents
  • Completed application form
  • Tabular CV
  • Current sound recording with an own vocal performance as a soloist (in) (max 10 minutes to two pieces from different periods.)
  • Motivation letter

The artistic director will select among the candidates six active participants per vocal group. The selected participants can then inscripe for the Choir Academy in 2016; inscription is binding after payment of a fee of 100,00 €. The course fee of 600,00 € is financed for active participants through a grant from the Peter and Luise Hager Foundation and the ME Saar Foundation, inscription fee will be refunded after successful participation.

Passive participation

There is the possibility of passive participation in the Choir Academy.

For this purpose must be only  sent the completed application form and the inscription fee of 100 € has to be paid.

 

  •  Daily up to four hours rehearsal under the direction of Prof. Georg Grün, during active coaching of professional singers
  • 30 minutes daily individual instruction by the professional singers in the form of intensive vocal training work, supplemented by assistance to private rehearsal, for appropriation of  the scores and their artistic realization (only for active participants).
  • One hour daily body workout under professional supervision (only for active participants).
  • Great final concert recorded by the Saarland Radio

The Choir Academy works in close cooperation with the  Conductors‘ Academy, leaded by Prof. Georg GrüN.

II. Conducotor’s Academy

Artistin director: Prof. Georg Grün

In parallel with the Choir Academy will take place a Conductors‘ Academy, which primarily deals with questions of interpretation, choral sound, intonation and their sample and technical aspects of conducting and their implementation in the professional context. Particular attention is given to the expression of conducting by stroke technique and the individual „conducting language“ of the participants. This is done by individual conducting lessons with Prof. Green, the passive participation in the choir rehearsals, and its own directing of the Academy choir, evaluation of the recorded video intervals, analysed in the afternoon and the preparation of the choral works.

  • Students in choral conducting and junior conductors, who wish to continue their education
  • Church musicians, school musicians, amateur choir conductors

For a grant as an active participant:

  • Application documents
  • Completed application form
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Current DVD recording on which to see as a conductor  (no back view, 15 minutes max. at least two a cappella works)
  • motivation letter

The artistic director will select among the candidates up to eight candidates. The selected candidates may then inscripe for the Conductors‘ Academy in 2016; inscription is binding after payment of a fee of 100,00 €.

At the beginning of the Conductors‘ Academy the selection of up to four active participants is determined by a conducting competition.

The course fee of 600,00 € will be funded by a grant for active participants Peter and Luise Hager Foundation and the ME Saar Foundation, inscription fee will be refunded after successful participation.

The remaining candidates can participate as a passive participant in the Conductors‘ Academy. The inscription fee will be refunded after successful participation.

Passive participation:

There is the possibility of passive participation in the Conductors‘ Academy. For this purpose, only the completed application form must be submitted and the enrollment fee has to be paid (€ 100)

  • Two hours a day conducting lessons by Prof. Georg Grün (only for active participants)
  • One hour daily active work with the Academy choir, divided among the four active Dirigierstipendiaten (only for active participants)
  • Daily up to four hours of passive participation in the choir rehearsal under the direction of Prof. Georg Grün
  • One hour daily body workout under professional supervision (only for active participants)
  • Great final concert recording by the Saarland Radio

The active participants agree to conduct the final concert, if they are selected for. A claim to a conducting does not exist.

The cost of accommodation and meals are not included in the registration fee. We are happy to assist in finding suitable accommodation.
